Clinical Trial Planning and Delivery Short Course - Applications Now Open

The short course Delivering Clinical Trials: from Protocol to Patient is now open for applications.

Clinical trials play a vital role in bringing innovative therapies to patients, ultimately improving health outcomes. This was clearly demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic, where randomised trials of new treatments and vaccines significantly reduced virus-related mortality.

Queen’s University Belfast has a world-renowned reputation for excellence in clinical trials, and iREACH Health will build upon this by delivering an innovative and globally competitive clinical research ecosystem here in Northern Ireland.

This short course is designed to introduce participants from a wide range of disciplines to the essential elements of planning and delivering clinical trials. With a practical focus, the course will guide learners through the key steps required to take a study protocol and deliver it safely and effectively to participants. You’ll gain insight into regulatory requirements, participant safety, and maintaining trial integrity.

Interactive workshops will offer the opportunity to engage with leading experts in clinical trial delivery and develop the hands-on skills needed for successful implementation.

Although the primary focus is on clinical trials, the principles explored throughout the course are also applicable to other research methodologies, including observational and qualitative studies. The course is tailored to support your role in clinical trial delivery, equipping you with the knowledge and confidence to bring research to life for patients and participants.

This short course will be delivered in person across four days over a three month period, beginning on 15 January 2026.

Applications close at 4:00 PM on Monday, 17 November 2025

Please note: Tuition fees and associated charges set by the University may be subject to change for this course. However, 18 fully funded places are available through the Department for the Economy’s Skill Up initiative, meaning eligible participants can enrol without incurring any fees.
